Are you a Leader? Do you see yourself as a leader?
“Everything Rises and Falls on Leadership.” John Maxwell
Truly everything does. Everything from our personal world, our business world, our government and educational world and even the religious world. Everything rises and falls on leadership. And sadly sometimes, too many of those things seem to fall than to actually rise, don’t they?
So the question again is: Are you a leader and how can you make a difference in someone else’s life?
“If Your Actions Inspire People to Dream More, Learn More, Do More and Become More, Then You Are A Leader.” John Quincy Adams
Whether you are a corporate executive, a teacher, a salesperson or have the most important profession there is: a stay at home parent – If you turn around right now and have people following you – You are a leader and you have the amazing opportunity to add value to those people and help them grow and flourish.
Now we all know, someone who’s climbed the corporate ladder and reached the top, has a corner office and a designated parking space can still be a lousy leader or in other words nobody really wants to follow!
You see there are leaders and followers by position but there are also leaders and followers by permission. Which would you rather be? Do people follow you because they have to or because they are excited to?
Once you embrace the fact that truly everyone is a leader in some way, shape or form, you suddenly become aware of the fact that the skill to lead yourself or others isn’t one you’re necessarily born with. It must be developed.
What do YOU do on a daily basis to improve your leadership skills? What is YOUR plan for growth? You see growth is not automatic, if you want to grow you have to be intentional about it.
To be honest, I don’t think there is a ‘finish line’ when it comes to leadership. I believe we continue to learn as we embark on this transformational journey and continue to earn people’s trust to lead them. The better we are able to lead ourselves, the better we will be able to lead others.
So what about you, are you a leader?
